Sustaining Electrical Engineer I

Job Type - Full Time

Location - Boulder, CO 

Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our Boulder, CO office. Relocation assistance is not available. Only local candidates will be considered

As a Sustaining Electrical Engineer I, you will support electrical design and manufacturing activities for existing products. This role focuses on learning core systems, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to improvements under guidance.

 

Essential Functions  

  1. Assist the immediate team in the development of electrical test setups and fixtures for server and tape library components.
  2. Support the transition of electrical designs into manufacturing by shadowing the release process for new PCBAs.
  3. Analyze basic performance data with guidance to identify routine component issues or improvement opportunities.
  4. Troubleshoot low-complexity manufacturing and field issues related to discrete electrical components and basic power assemblies.
  5. Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical assemblies to ensure production continuity.
  6. Execute defined electrical test methods and validation activities to ensure conformance to product specifications.

 

Additional requirements  

  1. Support End-of-Life (EOL) component identification and basic replacement research.
  2. Update existing schematics and documentation under close supervision.
  3. Collaborate with immediate cross-functional peers to provide data for failure analysis reports.

 

Qualifications/Prior Experience/Competencies  

  1. 0-2 years of experience
  2. Understanding of circuit behavior and schematic design, with exposure to PCBA design tools such as Altium Designer preferred
  3. Familiarity with lab equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope)
  4. Basic scripting or data analysis skills preferred
  5. Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills

 

Education/Certification  

  1. B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer or similar).

Compensation - $68,500-85,500/ year. 

While this salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, a candidate’s actual salary will be competitive based on a variety of factors including the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience.
