Job Description

School Office Administrator

Netivot Shalom Preschool at Congregation Netivot Shalom

Part-Time

April 2026

The School Office Administrator will be a critical member of our team, providing the administrative infrastructure that allows our educators to focus on what they do best: teaching. This is a detail-oriented, people-facing role that requires someone who is organized, proactive, and genuinely enjoys supporting families within a school community.

No Early Childhood Education background is required. The ideal candidate enjoys working with families, parents/guardians, and children, and is eager to be part of a mission-driven, values-based Jewish educational community.

The position parameters are somewhat flexible, and we are fully prepared to provide support to the right candidate. If you see yourself fulfilling some of the job requirements but not others, you are encouraged to apply. We will determine the type of support you need to successfully fill the role.

Congregation Netivot Shalom is currently posting multiple positions as part of an intentional and open-minded search process. We are excited to meet candidates who feel drawn to one or more possible positions at Netivot Shalom Preschool, as we determine the best fit and structure for our school community.

About Us:

Netivot Shalom Preschool at Congregation Netivot Shalom is entering its second decade of providing young children with a rich, joyful learning environment rooted in Jewish values, social-emotional learning, and child-centered practice. Our philosophy is inspired by Reggio Emilia: we see each child as curious, competent, and capable of building their own understanding of the world. Learning is play-based, emergent, and interwoven with Jewish life and practice. Netivot Shalom Preschool is a warm and inclusive community that welcomes families who are Jewish or interfaith, as well as those who do not identify as Jewish. Congregation Netivot Shalom is an LGBTQ+-affirming community.

Key Job Duties / Responsibilities:

Family and Community Relations

  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for families, prospective families, and visitors
  • Assist with enrollment logistics, family communications, and school event coordination
  • Help maintain a warm, organized, and professional office environment and school climate that reflects the values of our school and congregation

Office and Administrative Operations

  • Manage day-to-day office operations, including phone, emails, filing, and general correspondence
  • Coordinate the ordering and inventory of classroom supplies, office materials, and program resources
  • Support the Director or administrative team with administrative tasks, scheduling, and communications
  • Prepare reports, newsletters, and other written materials as needed

Financial and Compliance Support

  • Assist with tracking tuition payments, invoices, and basic bookkeeping in coordination with the Director or administrative team
  • Maintain student records, enrollment files, and required documentation in compliance with state and licensing regulations

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of office administration, school administration, or related experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with common office software (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Warm, professional demeanor and genuine care for families and community
  • Experience working in a school or nonprofit environment is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture, holidays, and community life is a plus, but not required

You don't need to check every box to be a strong candidate. If you are organized, people-oriented, and excited about supporting a mission-driven school community, we encourage you to apply.

Compensation: $25.00-$30.00 hourly rate
