$90,000 – $160,000 (depending on experience and case volume capability)

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced
Immigration Attorney with a strong background in
removal defense to join our San Diego office. This role focuses on representing individuals in
immigration court proceedings , including those placed in removal (deportation) proceedings.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience appearing before the
Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and managing cases from initial intake through final hearing. This is a client-facing, litigation-focused role requiring strong advocacy skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload.
Job Responsibilities: - Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court (EOIR)
- Handle cases from Master Calendar Hearings through Individual (Merits) Hearings
- Develop case strategy and prepare clients for court appearances
- Prepare and file applications for relief, including:
- Asylum
- Cancellation of Removal
- Adjustment of Status (defensive)
- Waivers (I-601, I-212)
- Draft legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation
- Represent clients in bond hearings where applicable
- Conduct client consultations and gather supporting evidence
- Respond to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs) as needed
- Maintain compliance with immigration laws, court procedures, and filing deadlines
- Work closely with support staff to manage case progression efficiently
Qualifications: - Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active bar license in good standing (California preferred)
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in removal defense / immigration court
- Demonstrated experience appearing before EOIR (Immigration Court)
- Strong knowledge of immigration law, including relief from removal under the INA
- Experience handling one or more of the following:
- Asylum cases
- Cancellation of removal
- Defensive adjustment of status
- Waivers (I-601, I-212)
- Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations
