Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of La Casa Amiga Community Programs, The Financial Coach is responsible for coordinating and delivering financial education and career coaching to participants enrolled in LCA programs. The Financial Coach works with bilingual Latino individuals to help them gain the skills, knowledge, and resources needed for successful careers in the finance industry. This role combines financial coaching with program coordination, ensuring participants are adequately prepared for job placement and long-term financial stability. the Financial Coach Specialist provides individualized and group financial coaching for participants to help them reach target goals including credit score, budgeting, saving, utilization of affordable financial services, and asset development. This position works directly with families/individuals to ensure that families reach their educational, financial and asset goals.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Accounting or related field; financial coaching experience preferred
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish; excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Demonstrate ability to interact effectively and confidently with individuals at all socio-economic levels that utilize Hispanic & Newcomer Outreach support
  • Ability to work independently and as a productive team member
  • Excellent mathematical skills and reasoning ability
  • Successful completion of initial and on-going employment screens, including, but not limited to criminal background, sex offender, drug screen, OIG, valid Michigan driver’s license, abuse and neglect and vehicle record check as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Latinos in Finance Program, ensuring that training schedules, workshops, and events run smoothly.
  • Manage participant enrollment, tracking their progress throughout the program, including course completion and job placement.
  • Work closely with financial institutions to arrange networking events, job fairs, and internships for program participants.
  • Organize and maintain program resources, such as materials for financial education, job search support, and soft skills training.
  • Provide one-on-one financial coaching to program participants, helping them create personalized financial plans, set goals, and build healthy financial habits.
  • Educate participants on budgeting, credit building, savings, and debt management, tailoring advice to their unique financial situations.
  • Offer guidance on accessing financial services, such as banking, loans, and investments, to empower participants to make informed decisions.
  • Assist participants with resume building, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Provide coaching on career development, including soft skills training, workplace professionalism, and goal setting for career advancement.
  • Connect participants with local employers in the financial sector, facilitating job placements and internships.
  • Engage in community outreach to recruit participants for the Latinos in Finance Program, particularly within the bilingual Latino community.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and financial institutions to promote the program and expand its impact.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant progress, financial coaching sessions, and job placement outcomes.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Program Director on participant achievements, challenges, and program metrics.
  • Ensure program compliance with grant requirements and contribute to grant reporting as needed.
  • Resource development: Identify and refer participants to other resources and services needed to achieve their financial goals. Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key community partners.
  • Adhere to the Mission, Values and Vision of CCSEM and the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Director of La Casa Amiga Community programs

Position Classification, Type & Expected Hours of Work:


This is 25 Hrs. part time non-exempt position. Core days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position may include evening and weekend obligations. This is a year-round position, eligible for paid time off (PTO).
